One small worldbuilding question a day, by email.

I made this for myself first. I have a world I have been building for years, and I kept losing my place in it. One question a day fixed that. So I thought you might like it too.

It works like this.

  1. Put your email in the box below.
  2. Every morning you get one mail. One small question about your world. It fits on one screen.
  3. You write the answer in your own notebook or doc. Two lines is enough.
  4. Or reply to the mail with your answer, and the next question comes straight back. So you can do one a day, or ten in an evening. Your call.

Who this is for

Honestly, I am not sure yet. I am still finding out.

But I think it fits a few people I know.

Game masters who want a setting the players can feel, not just a map with names on it.

Writers who want the world to hold up when a reader pokes at it.

And anyone who draws maps for fun. Kids do. I still do.

You do not need to be good at this. The questions are small on purpose.

Some questions look like this

Question 1 is the easy one. The rest go all over your world. Here are a few, picked at random.

Question 1

Write the name of your world.

Hint: One name is enough. You can change it later.

Question 95

If your people began far from where they live now: write how they got here. If not, write 'not needed'.

Question 187

Describe who gets the money, land, titles, and jobs when a person dies.

Hint: Say who settles it if people disagree.

Question 578

Write how long people of each race or people group live.

Question 799

Describe how houses differ between rich and poor, and between the races or peoples. Think about materials, how they are built, and looks.

That is the whole mail, every time. One question, then the next.

If you miss a day, nothing happens. The next mail still comes. I miss days too.
