Arena is a community for educators, designers and futurists who want to futureproof humanity through game-based learning experiences.
It’s a space to explore, experiment and build cool stuff together.
What We’re All About
There are 3 main things we do in The Arena.
- Exploring Futureproofing Concepts with Games
- Learn about the wild, unpredictable world we’re headed into
- Discover 8 key skills for thriving in the future and how we can build those skills through game-based learning.
- Learning and Experimenting with Game Mechanics
- Play with different game mechanics that can turn boring learning into something people actually want to engage with.
- Reflect on how these mechanics can make learning experiences powerful and fun.
- Building Theme-Based Game Prototypes
- Collaborate to design game prototypes around future-focused themes.
- Rapidly prototype, get messy and see where creativity takes you.
How To Get Involved
At its heart, The Arena is about bouncing ideas off each other to build cool stuff that can change the world. To make that happen, we have these opportunities:
- WhatsApp group for discussion
- Monthly Offline & Online meetups of different types
- Mechanic Showcases: Learn about a game mechanic and create something with it.
- Design Sessions: Work on integrating game mechanics into future-focused learning projects.
- Exploration Sessions: Dive into future trends and brainstorm how they can inspire learning experiences.
- Game Jams where we team up to create game-based learning experiences around specific challenges.
You do not have to attend all of these events. However, if you could attend one of the meetups – either online or offline, that’d help you a lot. Offline meetups will be in Bengaluru, India. Online meetups would be on Google Meet.
Design Journals
Apart from the WhatsApp group, meetups and game jams, each member is invited to keep a Design Journal. It’s a space to:
- Capture ideas and reflections from your explorations in futureproofing and game-based learning.
- Document your experiments.
- Share your journey and learn from others in the community.

- Celebrate failure. It’s how we learn and get better.
- Share generously. Ideas grow when we share them.
- Embrace uncertainty. Try things, experiment and tell us what worked (or didn’t).

Membership
Membership is free.
But, we would like to have an active community that will take action, so we’re capping the membership to 20 people in the first wave. More spots may open up in the future.
