The Story Segue Sale Method is my favourite way of creating content, which can be used instead of the SCARY technique. In fact, this is my preferred method for daily email as well.
Here’s how you do it:
- First, you mine your life for stories. Look for day-to-day anecdotes or moments of transformation that you experienced during the day, or perhaps throughout your life. (It is helpful to maintain a log of such moments.)
- Once you have a moment of transformation, share the events that occurred and the transformation (the story) in the content piece.
- Once you reach a natural conclusion, extract a key message, idea or connection from the story that acts as a bridge to what you want to sell. This becomes the segue (connector).
- Once you have the segue in place, make a pitch for whatever you’ve got on offer. You’re not doing a hard sell; you are giving your customer an opportunity to buy.
When implemented, the Story-Segue-Sale method helps you leverage your personality and life as an infinite source of content that converts as well.
Here’s an example of the Story-Segue-Sale Method in action
Hey XXXX!
This past few days have been a doozy.
My mum’s health is messed up – and the news ain’t what I had hoped it to be. That’s really colonizing my mind, y’know?
Earlier today, I was sitting at the computer, trying to build out the workbook for ‘The Commitment Ladder’ step in my coaching program when I was extra fidgety.
Not like ADHD style fidgety…
More like… a general sense of malaise and sorrow.
So, to change my mood, I took my baby girl off to the park.
It was about 5pm and the kids were on the slides like flies on a cow’s rump.
It was loud.
It was dirty.
It was everything I hated.
And then this little witch of mine tugged at my hand and pointed…
“Appa! Dragonflies!”
I squinted and followed her tiny hands to where they were pointing.
And in the distance, in front of a big green copperpod tree was a swarm of dragonflies.
At home, we love dragonflies. They’re an indicator that the air and water nearby is clean (even if they can fly a lot).
And for that moment, I was happy.
Rejoicing with my baby girl the little critters buzzing about.
And that’s when it hit me, y’know?
My waifu has been teaching Maya to pay attention to things like nature, plants, leaves and bugs. Like from ever since she was a wee li’l kid.
All that effort my waifu put in – it was yielding good results.
My daughter was paying attention to the stuff that’s important.
But I would have missed it too, if it wasn’t for her.
It’s always nice to have someone around who can point you to the things that matter, y’know?

With love from Bengaluru, this is Arvindh saying over and out.
P.s. This week’s dicey in terms of emails. My mum’s health is messing with me head. So, expect intermittent emails. Cheers.
